Yeah, there are some names that just call for emphasis – we had a catcher in Seaford, Paul Widerman, and you just had to say his name like the guy on the Letterman show said Dave’s name, WHY-der-man.

but as you point out, those guys tend to get sing-songy, and it sounds bad.

Another error PA folks make is post game “Good game guys” type comments. I always thank the Umpires, the Teams and the Parents (for providing the players). And that’s it.
