We stumbled across this podcast on Pucklandia, a take on the popular Fred Armisen television show, Portlandia.  Both take place in the same Pacific-Northwest city of Portland, Oregon.

Pucklandia Podcast: Season 3, Episode 9: longtime PA announcer Dan Folwick

Pucklandia talks Winterhawks and the WHL in general, a junior hockey league that’s part of the Ontario Hockey League and has sent numerous players into the NHL.  In this podcast, they talk to Dan Folwick who sat down for about an hour to talk about junior hockey as the voice of the Winterhawks.

This podcast is worth the listen, though there are quite a few sounds in the background that can be distracting.  However there are some interesting and funny stories that Folwick shares with the listeners from “inside the penalty box”.

One thing to note, is that the Winterhawks play in two arenas which are right across from each other.  The Memorial Coliseum which is featured on the header of the page, and has an old-arena feel, and The Rose Garden Arena which is across a plaza and provides a more professional feel for bigger games.
