One of the first of many things we are tackling when it comes to the World Police and Fire Games, is figuring out scripting times for the various games. Even though we haven’t selected any announcers yet, we’re still focusing on which sports will need more dynamic announcers who can handle the fast-pace that some sports and announcing offer, and which sports will be more relaxed and allow for general announcements at any time.
Because of that, we’re putting together a list of sports, along with when announcements can be made. Below is a list of some of the sports that athletes will participate in, along with best times to announce sponsor ads, upcoming events and more.
Badminton: Between sets
Baseball: Between innings and during pitching changes
Basketball: Between periods and timeouts
Bowling: Between games
Boxing: Between rounds
Cross Country: Before the starters gun, after runners have left the starting area, after finishing
Dodgeball: Between heats/rounds, games
Football: During timeouts, possession changes, missed field goals, after touchdowns/field goals
Ice Hockey: During icing stoppages, during stoppages after a long shift (this takes some finesse and understanding of the game), between periods
Lacrosse: During timeouts, quarter/halftime breaks
Soccer: A missed shot that leads to a goal kick, shot attempt that the goal keeper holds on to and the teams transition, halftime
Softball: Between innings and during pitching changes
Swimming: Between heats/races
Tennis: Between sets and during change over
Volleyball: During timeouts and between sets
Wrestling: Between bouts, between periods could interfere with official
