James Witherite has a unique addition to games he announces, he’s an organist. Now through an Indiegogo, he is hoping to produce an organ music album that can be used by announcers at all levels of hockey.
Indiegogo: Inside the Glass, Classic Hockey Organ Music
Witherite is a jazz organist, play-by-play commentator for the University of Delaware hockey teams, sometimes on-ice official, sometimes AHL anthem singer, sometimes PA announcer, and yes, sometimes hockey organist. Hear some of his work in the background of the video below.
There are expenses associated with producing an album so Witherite has started the Indiegogo. Several different options include having him appear (within a 75-mile radius of Philadelphia) to having a fight song or special request.
SportsAnnouncing.com has always supported organists and feels there isn’t enough of a selection of music played on the organ to fill the time during hockey games, hopefully this will help fill that void. If you’d like to get in on the Indiegogo, click the link above.
