This has nothing to do with P. A. announcers, DJs, or game operations. This is solely about a young lady whose dream it was to play college basketball, only to be fouled in the worst way, by cancer.
Lauren Hill became a household name in 2014, the same year she was diagnosed with an inoperable form of brain cancer. She never gave up that dream of playing college basketball. She inspired many, so much so, she had the chance to play in one game, the opener for Mount St. Joseph University that was moved up in the schedule and site. The game would be relocated to Xavier University because of the media attention she drew to accomplish her dream and the number of fans who wanted to see her do it.
A year ago last Sunday, Lauren Hill lost her battle with cancer. One year later, her hometown honored her by naming a street in her honor.

We vow to follow Lauren’s wish and “Never Give Up” the hope for a cure.
