Minnesota Public Address Announcer Joe Simons has retired after 37 years of announcing for Crosby-Ironton basketball the Brainerd Dispatch reports.

The voice, who announced in two different home courts for both boys and girls basketball is 78 years old and feels that now is the time to call it a career.

“I am stepping down,” Simons said. “I’m 78 years old. I still loved it. I wouldn’t say I didn’t, but it just felt like now is the time.
