As most hockey P. A. announcers will tell you, dress shoes on ice are a bad idea. Anthony Bellino, the voice of the Toledo Walleye in the ECHL will tell you the same thing, but now speaks a little more emphatically after a slight slip turned into a troll-fest on Twitter. And it’s not a fan that’s trolling him, it’s his employer!
Bellino was coming off the ice toward the penalty box when he slipped last week. People fall on the ice all the time, but being in front of the penalty box there was going to be video of it. And the Walleye capitalized on quite a few humorous posts, waiting for the team to start play in Alaska. Yep, they didn’t tweet about it until the team was on the road. And it made for a funny pre-game show. Our favorite though (at the bottom), was developed a couple of days later.

Being a good sport, Bellino tweeted:
For 7 years, SEVEN, I’ve work sneakers for that reason & the 1 time I don’t you do this to me @ToledoWalleye…

And trust us, we’re laughing because we’ve been there. And it’s ok to laugh as long as only pride was hurt.
