The Greensboro Swarm recently held auditions for their inaugural Public Address Announcer. There were many fine applicants, including a few who saw the posting here on SportsAnnouncing.com, and after careful deliberation, the Swarm chose Kevin Heilbronner.
Heilbronner had been the voice of the Washington Wizards and Mystics until a few years ago, often being heard on nationally broadcast games and during special skits during games. He, too, heard about the job opening here.
Ironically, this will be his second stint with a Michael Jordan-owned team as the basketball legend was part owner of the Wizards for a couple of seasons in which Heilbronner had been announcing. The Swarm are owned by the Charlotte Hornets and may use Heilbronner as a back-up during the season.
He had also announced for George Mason University and broadcast baseball in the DC area while also serving as a wrestling official and working with semi-pro and other organizations over the years. He’s also working with North Carolina State University athletics covering events for them this season. Congratulations to Kevin Heilbronner!!!
