Paulick Report:  Gulfstream Park Seeks New Announcer As Collmus Steps Down From Post

However, late last month, Collmus announced that he would be scaling back some of his work when he indicated to Gulfstream Park management that he would be stepping down from his role for the winter meet at famous Florida track.  He had been the announcer for the previous 10 years.

Collmus’ decision is an honorable one as he is turning 50 and would like to ease up on the schedule a little bit to remain fresh, rather than be on the go all year round.  Pete Aiello calls races at Gulfstream from April through November, no word yet on who Collmus’ replacement will be though.  Aiello also calls races at Oaklawn Park in Arkansas for their season which runs January through April.  If Aiello were to take over for Collmus, he too would be operating on a year-round schedule.  It will be interesting to see how this works out in the coming weeks.
