Ladies and gentlemen, as we come together tonight for this athletic event, we ask that all fans please rise to recognize a moment of silence. On this date in 2001, the United States of America was attacked in an unprecedented fashion, leading to the deaths of over 3,000 men and women in New York City, Arlington, Virginia and Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
